This article , talking about building a bridge between Baie Ste-Catherine to Tadoussac highlights in my environmentally inclined.
The people who speak for the project to facilitate transport with eastern Quebec, Labrador and possibly an important factor for the development of the country. They involve the construction of a bridge with an increase road transport with the North Shore. They speak Ausi to the bridge central element for the completion of the Northern Plan Quebec government.
Have we forgotten the 138, which connects east to western Quebec, on the north shore of St. Lawrence, is a rough road in the area of Charlevoix, dozens of accidents that occur in sector of Baie St-Paul each winter? Do we really want to increase the number of trucks on the road. It is a matter of construction of nearly 900 million for the bridge only, what should we think of all the money he would invest to improve road safety in the region Charlevoix? Do we want
also jeopardize the Sagunay Marine Park - St Lawrence , and risk disturbing wildlife during the construction of this bridge?
Is it not also time to rethink how to transport development in Quebec? After the extension of Highway 30, the new section of 25, the extension of the 50 (encroaching on agricultural areas), should not we think about the future of our children and stop contruire roads, but rather use the resources that nature gave us naturally? It would probably be possible to increase the frequency of ferry between Baie Ste-Catherine and Tadoussacc, or to promote railway development, from Ville Saguenay - which has a bridge - and even into the Lower Upper North Shore.
Could we not also increase the frequency of vessels traveling the St. Lawrence Seaway St. Lawrence River, connecting the North Shore and making the transportation of all resources - mining and forestry - from the North Shore?
If we could limit the number of trucks on the roads, we would need to rise more quickly if the road network capacity.
My wife and I returned from our annual trip in the Gaspé and it is surprising, shocking, mind boggling to see the amount of semi-trailer registered in Ontario and even Manitoba that travel Highway 20 east of Montreal, and the amount registered in Nova Scotia and New Br Brunswick found between Quebec and Montreal. Would it not be simpler, safer to put all the goods on a wagon train - it would be possible to get the train quickly and easily allows a lorry - once at your destination - pick up the cargo and deliver it where it should go?? This would mean that our society is ready to accept some delays in delivery, but we've lived this way for decades, it is time to return to our roots ...
This reflection is similar to what my mother told us for years whenever we're on the highway, would she have been right all these years?
